Arrowsofgold Started Following You

Oh, if Natalia knew that Hubert only looked to assist her because of a possible gain for him or his homeland, she would have knocked those glasses right off of his nose with a single, full-palmed slap that he wouldn’t soon forget. But it was good tact that Hubert had to keep this to himself. He was clearly learning that the princess was proud, though he likely wouldn’t have said that to begin with.

If Hubert was looking for gain, he’d have to work damn hard for it. Natalia was willing to help her own people, but she wasn’t a pushover when it came to foreigners, especially not people from completely other planets. The only thing she would willingly give to Hubert at the present moment was a cold shoulder. She was actually about just turn and continue on her journey when he continued to speak.

“Insufferable—” Natalia hissed under her breath, but she quickly stopped herself, resorting to a slow, calming sigh instead of insulting a stranger. She had quite the temper, sure, but she was learning to control it.

Smiling once more, the princess turning just enough to make her quiver, stocked well with finely crafted arrows, visible to the lieutenant. “I am an archer and a very skilled one at that,” she said, her tone cropped.

Insufferable? Hubert heard it under the hiss of her breath- the most surprising of an insult. Hubert often described others as insufferable or intolerable himself when they were troubling him- but it was the first time he had heard it shot back at him like that. Most wouldn’t dare to return his insults. He was almost unsure how to take it, for a moment.

“Well that was unexpected. Finish your comment if you were going to make it.” If she was troubled by him, he would at least need to know the reason why. He likely wouldn’t make any changes- but, it was still nice to know.

Regardless, Natalia smiled- be it forced her not- and turned enough so that Hubert could spy her weapon of choice. The fine crafted leather of a sturdy quiver- that had the feathered ends of arrows sticking up out of it like flowers from the dirt. “An archer… I have little experience with archers,” he mused thoughtfully. “Because of such- I am tempted to see if your skills truly are… passable. Could I procure a demonstration? If it so fits you, Princess.”
